This car was advertised in Christchurch on Trademe. It was bought sight-unseen, although the photo's and description turned out to be accurate enough. I flew down and got it running with minimal hassle - the ignition lock had been taken out so a key could be made, and it needed a new battery and a quick tuneup. I took the PO for a quick spin around the block for old time's sake (his father was the original owner), then drove it to the Jeff's Transport yard in Hornby for transporting to Auckland. I chickened out of driving it the 1200-odd km up to Auckland because it had no WoF and hadn't been running for a while.
Picked it up from the Jeff's yard in Onehunga a few days later and drove it to Wainui (hooning just a little), and just as I got here a heater hose burst. Outstanding timing. A more thorough look-over on the hoist revealed nothing particularly worrisome. A bit of rust around the LH sill and bottoms of the doors, but overall in good shape for a car of this age.
